  1. Stumbled upon this thread. I'm using Yosemite but same issue. Anyone fix the Graphics for AMD Radeon HD 6310. If no kext, what other options we got? Resolution fix in plist will not do everything correct?
  2. Same answer thrice today for wireless :-) Buy DW 1510 from Amazon and wireless will start working. http://www.amazon.com/Broadcom-BCM94322-Dual-band-Wirless-Netbooks/dp/B00LP52BNI/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1455588150&sr=8-1&keywords=DW+1510 I plan to do the inspiron N5010. Appreaciate if you can share any information on how you got graphics working. And what about bluetooth? If it works, please tell me if you swapped out the card.
  3. For the wifi, you could try the Intel DW 1510 half-mini wifi. Not sure what kind of card you have in your asus, but in my dell laptop this worked without me having to do anything on yosemite. The card is cheap, IMO, so you have nothing to lose to see if it works with El Capitan. It is a dual band wifi card. PS your post is little confusing. You mention Yosemite, but then say "tadaaaa you have El Capitan". so which is it?
  4. Did you try it? Get El Capitan from AppStore, then try to boot. If does not boot, try -f option to see what the problem is. Backup all system extensions before you attempt the upgrade for your Yosemite install. There are never any guarantees but you are not going to know until you try.
  5. Thought I would start this thread since I thought this was a well supported laptop, but Vanilla install simply refused to work, giving me a screen that flipped between two images (wierdest thing I have ever encountered in all mostly unsuccessful hackintosh adventures). So gave Niresh 10.10.1 a shot. Bam! Complete success. All I had to do was to select the Nvidia Drivers under "Customization". Wifi works - replaced existing 5100 card with 1510 card. Note the numbers, they are similar but stock device has 5100. Bluetooth not working (but really, how many times do we use it?) Sound works, and Graphics looks like it is working (widescreen and working) Finally, and this took me a few attempts. DO NOT upgrade to 10.10.5 from AppStore. Instead go to Apple website and download the 10.10.5 combo update. Then simply install from the DMG following on screen instructions. Nothing gets fried. So now, for the first time in almost 2 years I have a completely functional hackintosh I am proud to say I build purchasing all used parts for a grand total of $72. I can now patiently wait for El Capitan (is Niresh listening?) What is not working - if any one can please help me. 1) Bluetooth (Dell 370) says "No Information". Not sure if its working or not, am guessing not. 2) SD Card reader. Says I don't have any installed. WTF?
  6. First you are almost correct! Didn't think it was USB related. I was using USB port in the back of my Lenovo ThinkCentre M81. I switched to port in front. Yup dee doo !!! Now I see hardware acceleration is not working so I'm not getting widescreen video. I have Intel HD 2000 onboard. I thought this was supported. Need to do some work here. Thinking may be go for a cheap NVidia card. I will reply back progress when I get around to it. Thanks very much for that suggestion. USB is flaky - what you use, which port you use. Beats me. PS - One issue to solve for later - upgrading to 10.10.5 fries the install.
  7. So I have installed Yosemite on my laptop using Niresh. I don't think it matters what the hardware is since I have same issue on multiple PCs and Laptops. So every time I try to do upgrade to 10.10.5 from AppStore, my machine is unbootable and I have to start over (unless someone can tell me how to fix). So I decided, I will clone my hard drive. I used Macrium Reflect to do a sector by sector copy of my Hard drive. However when I put the Cloned Hard Drive in my machine and boot, all I get is a blinking cursor. Now if I booted using Niresh and THEN selected the cloned Hard Drive it will boot just fine. So I'm thinking something didn't get cloned right, but don't understand why since I did a sector by sector copy. Need to know how else I can clone my drive so it boots.
  8. I actually installed it but after it restarted, THEN I got this error. Please let me know if your problem is similar. One note, I first tried with AHCI and never got past AHCI : No ECDT error. I switched to ATA and was then at least able to install, but on reboot same error as yours.
  9. I am having the same issue on my stock ThinkCentre M81 with Intel Motherboard 4GB RAM and onboard graphics. Wondering if the issue is graphics Card. Maybe I need to get an Nvidia card. Can anyone opine please?
  10. Well sometimes the norm does not work. Did you try ATA? I'm fixing to try with e6500 any day now, and will report my findings. I believe it is the same as e6400 but with larger screen. Mind you, I have Nvidia card not the Intel GMA that's on the Motherboard.
  11. I have the same exact question. I installed 10.10.1 and get updates for iTunes 12.3.2, OSX Update Combined 10.10.5 and OS X Yosemite Recovery Update 1.0. Need to know which updates are safe to take.
  12. I installed Windows 10 on Drive 1. I then installed 10.10.1 on Drive 2. Two separate drives not partitions. I wanted to dual boot and I saw articles that suggested to install Windows 10 first. So that's what I did. I do have a back up image of my Windows 10, but that's not the issue. I went to Multibeast and installed Chimera boot loader. What I didn't do is check before I installed Chimera if my dual boot was working. This is my problem now. I can restart the machine and boot into 10.10.1. If I try to boot into Windows, I get an error saying did not find OS, please Ctrl+Alt+Delete. If I do that, I get Chimera boot menu again. NOW if I select 10.10.1 it will NOT Boot. I have to power off. THEN I can boot into 10.10.1 So if I try to boot Windows 10, error, then Ctrl+Alt+Delete, boot 10.10.1 no dice. Only way to boot into 10.10.1 is power cycle and then boot. I need my Windows 10 back, and then my other issue should go away. How can I get Chimera to see my Windows 10?
  13. If anyone is reading. I have the same exact problem. with 10.10.1 and 10.10 it says 16 minutes left at start and then shuts down at 14 minutes left. With 10.9 it says 24 minutes left at start, then shuts down at ... 14 minutes left! 14 minutes left ?!?!?!?!?! WTF is special about 14 minutes? I'm trying on a Inspiron 15 N5040 i3 with 5 GB RAM and I see people have managed to install on this machine. I know USB is not my problem since I tried different USB sticks. So I'm thinking it is the kexts I need to customize. Will some kind soul who installed on N5040 or similar laptop please help me out.
  14. did you ever fix your mouse keyboard freeze problem on disk utility? I'm having very similar symptoms.
  15. So I learnt boot flags were case sensitive. What ?!?!?! Who knew. Anyway to cut a long story short. I'm further along now. It loaded a boat load of things and I'm not stuck at a repeating line... USBF: XXX.YYY AppleUSBEHCI::Found a transaction past the completion deadline on bus 0xfd, timing out! (Addr: 2, EP: 2) I thought USBBusFix=Yes was supposed to fix such problems. Anyone have any advice for me? I've pasted my Boot.plist below. Dunno why I'm not allowed to just attach it. <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?> <!DOCTYPE plist PUBLIC "-//Apple//DTD PLIST 1.0//EN" "http://www.apple.com/DTDs/PropertyList-1.0.dtd"> <plist version="1.0"> <dict> <key>ForceHPET</key> <string>Yes</string> <key>ForceWake</key> <string>Yes</string> <key>Instant Menu</key> <string>Yes</string> <key>EthernetBuiltIn</key> <string>Yes</string> <key>GenerateCStates</key> <string>Yes</string> <key>GeneratePStates</key> <string>Yes</string> <key>Graphics Mode</key> <string>1440x900x32</string> <key>GraphicsEnabler</key> <string>Yes</string> <key>Kernel Flags</key> <string>root-dmg=file:///BaseSystem.dmg max_valid_dma_addr=1024 -v darkwake=0 kext-dev-mode=1 dmar=0 force64 ahcidisk=1 debug=8</string> <key>SystemType</key> <string>2</string> <key>UseKernelCache</key> <string>No</string> <key>Rescan</key> <string>Yes</string> <key>SMBIOSdefaults</key> <string>No</string> <key>Wake</key> <string>Yes</string> </dict> </plist>
